Down Under Diary

I’ve been in Australia for the past 5 days now, and it’s been such a blast to see many people being kind and graceful. It’s always such a reminder that hospitality is really about treating people nicely. Being nice is something so foreign in Singapore, and I really feel so grateful to just receive kindness in Melbourne and Geelong.

A key learning is about how creative the creatives can be, and the approach is simple: have fun. It really makes me go “What? Is that possible?” and they really live it out.

I don’t know how, but that’s the hope I need to bring back to Singapore, and that’s the change I want to believe in. Maybe it would happen sooner than later, but it starts with me honestly. I could be a lot nicer to many people, and I think I really need to practice it. It’s a muscle severely underused and underdeveloped.

In any case, we’ve got about three more days here, and we’ll be flying back. I’m still getting a bit of a runny nose, but everyone is nice enough to just deal with it, and no one stares me down for sneezing. Not like Singapore at all… I need to practice that too for sure.
