Clarice and I decided to bring Allison out today, as part of Clarice’s birthday celebrations. We went to the National Gallery, and didn’t expect to see them celebrating their 10th anniversary. We had such a topsy turvy day going about, checking out the artwork and also trying to be good enough parents.
A lot of the time, it feels like parenting is this strange journey when you can’t do something wrong but you gotta be on your best all the time. And then you’re sleep deprived and always on a knife’s edge.
But when you kinda get the hang of it, it’s easier being yourself. You figure out you can be nitpicking at some parts and not at others. You get a bit more comfortable saying yes and no to whatever you want and don’t want to do.
On a day like today, it was good. The only bad parts are the other people we have to deal with while we’re there. That’s always the worst part; other people. There’s some nice people, but so many rude ones too. It’s a mixed bag.
