I’ve been thinking about cleaning up my room.
Yes I know, it’s a mind blowing idea, and yes, for all the friends who have known me long enough, I promise this is not because of Clarice making me doing it. It’s just something I’ve gotten to now and I’m done feeling like I’m stuck in my creative pursuits and how I want to live my life. Being a dad has made me come to certain identity points, and one of those is what kind of dad I wanna be.
I was looking at Tom Sachs (once again) and considering how he manages his studio while having a kid later in life. If that’s the type of artist I want to be, someone producing a lot of work often, then I’ve got to start working on how my space looks like too. I started to order a bunch of things to tidy up my study room. Organizing the decades worth of design and craft tools is really a task on itself.
YouTube had also been leading me towards this direction, with Scott Yu Jan and his desk organizing videos. I sat down to look at the amount of things I have and it’s a long process to plan. Sometimes these videos are short clips of life, and I faced it directly and I knew the hill of difficulty is really a big one to climb.
Anyway, I started by dumping a bunch of markers that have dried, and I’ll be doing more in the time to come. One drawer at a time.
