Bad habits: random mobile games

You’ve probably seen a million ads on YouTube, or Instagram, and they’re these really lame games where you click away at something and it makes you solve these problems before someone dies or something.

My bad habit is downloading one or two of these every few months and I end up playing them for hours on end. It’s not like I have nothing to do. I just have a very bad distraction itch in my head, and I scratch it a lot of the time.

I’m always led astray by advertising. It doesn’t matter if it’s false or not, but if you show me a McDonalds burger on screen in the middle of the night, I think about eating a McDonalds burger all the way through. I might even order it for supper. It works on me so immediately.

But for games, I keep playing it. It’s not a burger where you feel full and stop playing. I keep on going. These games are also endless, where there’s no real end to the game. So I go on playing forever, or until I hit the paywall. Then I uninstall the game and go on with my life being productive again.

I guess the real problem is the ads on YouTube or whichever platform I’m on. Because I realise this mobile game download happens a lot more often then I’d imagine.

Also, it’s the crappy ones I end up downloading, not the good ones. I’ve not played Genshin or Umamusume, but its Magic Sort I’m playing now. It’s really not that great.

I wrote this whole thing out because I’m going to uninstall the game now. With all the identity and clearing things out, I thought to come clean about this really weird brainspace I get into, and how I need to clean up some part of that too.

Ugh, I just got good at this shitty game too. Shucks.
