I’ve gotten my second pair of Tom Sachs General Purpose Shoe, the Bricolage colorway. It’s my birthday present this year, from Clarice, many months early.
This means I’ve got two shoes that are supposed to be worn to death before I get a new pair of shoes. It’s quite insane because these shoes wear down very slowly. The soles of the first GPS Studio I have are still mad stiff. It will take another while for this new one to break in.
I was reflecting with Mark about how we can buy shoes that we want, and I remember the days when I had to save up slowly for the shoes I wanted. The Teenage days that were so allowance reliant, and another friend also reminded me about how we had to ask our parents for shoes.
I pause every now and then, and I’m so thankful that I actually get to buy things like shoes. It’s definitely a blessing, and such a luxury. It helps to have these moments to be thankful and content, instead of always chasing what I don’t have instead.
