My Army T-shirts

I was not a fan of wearing the Singapore Army Green admin T shirts. I found it plain ugly, in many ways. It was just a uniform, repurposed for home use. I thought this all the way until last year, where I started wearing them almost daily.

What made the change? I needed a simple tshirt to wear after my baby threw up on me for the 5th time in a day.

This puke friendly shirt made sense finally. We would wear this shirt for occasions where one would feel like getting dirty, or being uncomfortable. And the tshirt would take all the beating you throw at it, because its all about the durability of the army tshirt. When it’s lived out its usefulness, you’d know it because it would really be full of holes and the fabric stretched thin from the millions of washes.

But me being me, I’ve also wanted to hold on to mine as a badge of honor. I’ve spent my time in army at the edge just before the green admin tee came, and my tshirts were brown. Half way through, the changes were made and everyone swapped over to the green one. So my brown admin tshirts have a special place.

Will I be okay throwing away my army admin tshirts? Probably yes, but I’ll take another million photos and maybe write about page about them. They’re just a marker from the past that I’m happy to hold on tightly to.
