Every day, I end up watching a video or two about how I should journal, what simple pen had inspired some artist or author to create more in their lifetime, or maybe some productivity method to boost my morale and motivation. But to be extremely honest, I really don’t need it.
Here are a list of things I use on a daily basis, or within my arsenal of tools that I think are the top of the class:
- Mitsubishi Pencil – Hi Uni
- Staedler 4B Pencils
- Muji pens (smooth ink and regular ink)
- Pentel Energel pens
- Uni Jetstream pens
- Woodpecker Blades for penknives and box cutters
- Pilot Iroshizuku inks for my fountain pens
- MD Notebooks for journaling
- Tomoe River for another journal
- Hobonichi 5 year diary for a daily journal
- Hobonichi weeks for a junk journal
- ASTAR W D802 Cutter handle for my cutting
- The British National Gallery Pocket notebooks for pocket notebooks
I’ve also made my own notebooks, so I’ve got that bunch to use up. I’m not mentioning fountain pens, but in some sense I’ve given up and I just use whatever I left out last. It’s been rotating with Lamy Safari, Pilot Metro, Jinhao, and Platinum Preppys.
I actually don’t carry much out with me. I just use the Jetstream 5 in 1 pen+pencil, and then maybe I throw in a clicky pen (Energel/Muji). I think there’s a Uniball in there somewhere that I’m forgetting, but I can’t see it on my table right now, so I am just imaging it doesn’t exist.
I also buy pens and pencils in bulk whenever it makes sense to. So I bought a box of the Mitsubishi Hi Uni pencil, and a box of the Pentel Energel pen (Black ink edition!)
I don’t need more pens, I just need to write more, but I still really want more stationery for no particular need. (I don’t actually act on this want all the time)(I am saving up for a box of Blackwing pencils, but my call on this is to use up at least 3 more Mitsubishi pencils first before I get there)(OR to just finish the Blackwing I currently have)
