I’m reading Stephen King’s On Writing, and since this is my blog, I decided that I will indeed have some intention on my pages.
There’s always a lot of things I want to communicate. I have opinions and thoughts, and if you’ve met me in person, I’m quite an easy going person on the general front.
But one thing I stand for, and one thing I’ve always want to write and communicate is for humans to be a bit better for each other and everyone else.
It does not make sense for a select few to give ideas and lead, when the rest don’t want to follow. Likewise, just because someone puts their trust in you, doesn’t mean you should exploit their weaknesses. Leadership is always the first level of “doing better” I feel needs to be addressed.
But to carry my pages with real intention, I want to also look at it like a loaded gun. With a loaded gun, you always point towards the direction you want to shoot. If you’re not going to shoot, then you holster your weapon and take out the bullets so that it doesn’t harm anyone on accident.
When I write and communicate, I want my words to carry action. If I’m not going to communicate, I holster my weapon and take my bullets out. I don’t need to be shooting all the time but if I do shoot, I want it to hit. It needs to be on target. If I speak, I want my words to mean something to the person I am speaking to. If it’s you on the blog, then I hope it hits you straight to the heart.
And I think that’s what I want to look at. How do I write something straight to the heart, and what do I want you to take from me straight to the heart? I don’t want to waste bullets and I don’t want you to be hit by stray bullets, never intended to carry any points.
I don’t know how it’ll do it, but I take and accept the challenge not to take the page lightly. I will do my best to write in a way that brings my points across the best they can.
