Daily Attention

My mind develops this laser focus on this idea of daily posting every now and then. I feel the need to post, as if I had forgotten to breathe again. But there’s literally no need. No one is asking me to write, no one is saying “hey, what’s going on with your Instagram/blog/medium”. But it still creeps in, sitting in the corner of my room, and just looking at my screen as I write this out now. It’s edging me to post, or to just create.

A minute ago I was in the bath tub, sitting there thinking about how I can’t sit still. In that minute since, I wrapped up my bath and had to chase myself here with my hair still wet, to write this post. I don’t need to, and yet I must.

Within my bath, I had come to another thought about inktober, and my lack of participation last year, and the year before that. It was challenging because work picked up a lot. I had other things I wanted to focus on, but today, surrounded by warm water, I was challenged to do it again.

But the creeping urge was in the corner of the bathroom too, saying I had to publish something. So as soon as I’m done with this, I’m going to draw the daily crayon drawing I was supposed to have started this year. I failed miserably, and I thought Inktober might be the reset. Nope, it’s today. And I will post it with almost no context because that’s just the kind of creep my urge is.

Whatever man, I’m posting this up, you creep. Now leave me alone. (or maybe not, because I think it’s quite fun to have a creative creep around.)(What a toxic relationship!)
