In one of those ever long debates about what is more important for an artist: their eyes or their hands, I’ve always stood by eyes are more important. After all, what’s the point of the artwork I can make if I can’t see it? But that means my eyes are something really key and important to me.
So, whenever something happens to my eyes, I take them quite seriously.
Today I went for my eye check up, that’s been a rolling visit since earlier this year when I was seeing flashes in my eyes. Based on all the documentation, it looked like I was having a cornea tearing. But after all the initial searches, it looked like nothing was really up.
I was actually going to cancel my booking for today, but earlier in the week, on a Monday, my left eye started acting up really strange. For one, it started to have a gritty like pus coming out when I rubbed my eyes in the morning. My eyesight then got blurry, but there was no itching or anything else. I was actually kinda worried. I thought I was going blind, or I had early onset cataracts or something.
But thankfully because the hospital’s app was bonkers, I couldn’t cancel my appointment, and I went to check it out anyway.
Turns out I’ve got some level of conjunctivitis, which means my oil glands in my eyelid are blocked for some reason. The doctor recommended a hot compress to release the blocked pores, but also got my eyelid wipes and a whole bunch of eye drops. I basically have enough to stock for a few trips out of the country.
Which is technically great because my eyes are important to me.
I’ve always wondered what would be one of my EDC – everyday carry. And now I know, it’s my eyedrops and my eye wipes. These things are nuts, and my eyes feel like they’re so pampered for right now. Totally enjoying it.
