The version of Multipliers I was reading was the updated one with Liz Wiseman writing the majority of the book. Just to correct my previous post where Greg Mckeown was acknowledged as a co-author.
I don’t know how well Multipliers would work in a corporate Singaporean landscape where many are jaded and highly practical. The aim is always to do as little as possible to make as much money out of it, or something along those lines. But perhaps that’s a diminishing view I have of the general public, and I should be more optimistic. One of the key things I’ve learnt about myself is how quick I jump to my own conclusions and assumptions. I can afford to give people a break a bit more.
In any case, if I take the book completely personally and not for general application, then there are many cases where I find myself to be a diminisher. The opposite for the Multiplier is the Diminisher, where the person makes everyone else look small in his work. Sometimes it happens accidentally, even with the best of intentions from the Multiplier.
I am interested to see what happens when I take this quiz: https://thewisemangroup.com/quiz/accidental-diminisher/ for accidental diminishers. I might post some of my own results from it later.
Anyway, I hope to be able to apply some of this soon into the teams I manage. Hopefully I’ll grow more as a person, and be a bit nicer to the people around me.
