I’ve always thought I don’t judge people by their looks, books by their covers, things like that. But I really cannot stand that frazzled look some runners have when their hair is bouncing along as they run.
It looks crazed, and the complete opposite from the usual calm produced when you see someone doing a repetitive task. Imagine a ironsmith hammering away. Are they bouncing their hair every strike? I don’t remembering seeing anything like that watching “Forged in Fire” – a series where metal workers battle it out with their blacksmith skills to make the most (something) weapon. I feel calm instead, seeing these people hammer away at glowing hot metal to form it into a murderous form. Ironic situation but my emotions result in a “if thou shalt kill me, let it by thine hands” type of moment. Resolution, I guess.
It’s the same similar feeling when I run. I zone out, I give in to my feet pounding into the floor. The landscape grows as I continue on my jog in the urban jungle of Singapore. But I wear a hat because when my hair flops on the top of my head, it severely annoys me. Sure, it’s not good aerodynamics either, but that’s besides the point, the flopping is just not calming and looks horrid.
(Horrid being my choice of word because I think I am being quite an old fuddy duddy and completely unnecessary in my observation. Horrid feels like it matches the best.)
Anyway, if I’m looking at the good in the people with flopping hair as they run, at least they’re running. No one is completely evil yeah?
